| 2010 Rother Raft Race – Nun’s have lost their paddles
Posted 14th September 2010 |

| Can anyone help please regarding Nun’s lost paddles – Email from the nun’s themselves |
|
Please could you help us, we Nuns left our oars near the JCB on being draged from the water and sadly they were not anywhere to be seen when we returned the following afternoon, once we realised they were missing. Does anyone know of their whereabouts? They are wooden ones and are our lucky paddles and would be of no use to any other rafters due to a curse put on the oars in 2007. Please email me on either drummondspc@yahoo.co.uk or ring Sister Pops on 07875 093 657 Many Thanks and Bless You |

| Rother Raft Race Report 2010 – |
|
Thanks to everyone who braved the waters of the Rother on Sunday 29th along with spectators, supporters and volunteers. We raised £4,000 from rafters and sponsors which will be distributed between our two nominated charities. Having taken over the running of this event last year we are constantly learning and aim to improve the following for 2011 which will take place on Sunday 28th August 2011: Food – there will be at least one food stand at the start and finish. Music – we aim to provide an opportunity for local musicians to play at either the start, finish or maybe both. PA – we will provide a public address system to make announcements, interview rafters etc. The Rother Raft Race depends entirely on local volunteers who generously contribute their time (and often equipment) for free. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this years event a success. We need more volunteers to help ensure the smooth running of the event – if you feel you can help please email us at enquiry@therotherraftrace.co.uk

| The latest River news straight from the river bank |
|
A number of people have mentioned that they don’t think the race is going ahead because there won’t be enough water in the river. I can confirm there is plenty of water for the race to take place. However the river has many overhanging trees and vegetation which needs to be cleared. If anyone would like to help with the river clearance, please contact Anthony Weller on 07872 307511 Please also email or post your entries in as soon as possible. |
